Education

Bangor University’s School of Ocean Sciences:
Are you interested in learning about Bangor University’s research into seafood? The pier pavilion, adjacent to Menai Bridge pier, will be open and showcasing research and enterprise activities. Come along, talk to Bangor University scientists and see at first hand research that is being undertaken on scallops, mussels and cockles, seaweeds in food, as well as some images from beneath the surface of the Menai Strait.

Children’s Activities:
Anglesey Sea Zoo and the North Wales Wildlife Trust will be running Seashore Safaris and Meet the Creatures sessions throughout the day. Every hour on the hour, groups of up to around 15 budding seaside scientists will be taken by biologists to the Menai Bridge seashore to find some of the amazing rock-pool inhabitants, on dry land.

Meet the Creature sessions will also run ever hour on the half hour, where youngsters will be able to get up close to some of the weirder things found around our coasts.

Each of the children’s activities lasts around 45 minutes, are partially tide and weather dependent and are fully insured and staffed by CRB checked biologists, so parents can enjoy the rest of the festival, at least for a little while! We provide everyone with a pair of wellies (but if you do have your own then feel free to bring them along!), a fluorescent safety vest, an identification chart and an expert marine biologist as a guide.
