About

Menai Seafood Festival was set up in 2013 to promote the local fishing industry and to reconnect people with the array of quality fish and seafood available from the North Wales shores.

The event brings together local fishermen, farmers and producers to display the amazing variety of seafood and other produce sourced from the area.

The first ever Menai Seafood Festival was held in Menai Bridge in August 2013, and attracted well over 10,000 people. Once again in 2014, the event will include demonstration tents and local produce market, as well as activities for kids, presentations and exhibitions, pop-up arts an crafts galleries and live music.

New for 2014, there will be a concert featuring international harpist Catrin Finch on the Friday night, and cooking masterclasses will be held on the Sunday.

In the run-up to the Festival, local artists, chefs and marine biologists will be running a project for local schools where children will be learning about the maritime environment, sustainability and all kinds of creatures that live in the sea, as well as how to prepare and cook using various fish and seafood. They will also create jellyfish shaped lanterns which will be lit up and displayed during the lantern procession at the end of the Festival.

Menai Seafood Festival is a not-for-profit event run by a committee of local residents and businesses from Menai Bridge and the surrounding area. The event has secured funding and support from a number of organizations including: Anglesey Sea Zoo; Dylan’s Restaurant; Rib Ride; Waitrose; Cywain; Isle of Anglesey County Council; Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG); Peninsula Windows; Bangor University/Pontio; CL Jones.
